Why this website?

I love Reading… and this started as a humble effort prodded by my friends: My list of Top books every thinking person should read, with my brief summary on each book. Along with it, some inspiring quotes and poetry.

Who am I?

Work for a large, listed pharmaceutical company as CEO of their International Business. Married with twin daughters.

Before this, worked in Procter & Gamble mostly as an expat in various Asian countries (Japan, Singapore, Philippines, India), then started my own company (Elements Akademia, social entrepreneurship).

Professionally, did Engineering (NIT Trichy, One of the Top 10 colleges in India) and then an MBA (IIM Lucknow, One of Top 5 MBA institutes in India). And then an advanced course in Entrepreneurship (Chicago Booth School)

Some words that my friends use to describe me…

Wanderer

Have been to more than 60 countries. There was a 6 year period where tried to visit one city every month somewhere in the globe. As an expat manager, have lived in Japan, Singapore, Philippines, India, Australia, South Africa and UAE.

Adventurer

Anything that has thrill. Have done Mount Everest Base Camp, Sky Diving, Shark cage diving, Bungee Jumping, Recreational Flying, Snake Handling, Wild Life encounters, Abseiling etc.

Voracious reader

Have been reading at least one book every week for the last 20+ years. Philosophy, High Science, Spirituality, Business, Self-Help, History… any subject. From Harry Potter (have read all volumes) to Bertrand Russel.

Passionate & Committed

Very passionate about work and life. Would like to leave a legacy in everything I do. Like Tennyson’s Ulysses, “I cannot rest from travel; I will drink life to the lees”. And yes, consistent top performer at work.

Coach

Leaders make ordinary people extraordinary. Have taught in a few bschools: IIM B and L in India, NUS Singapore, University of Manchester, Stellenbosch Business School. Coached senior managers in Nestle, Cadbury, Kraft Foods, Macmillan, Conagra, Zee etc. Academic advisor to Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and ICSI.

My Family’s Blogs

Daughters are little princesses. Like all fathers, I want to fulfill every single dream of theirs. It should be in front of them even before they ask. And like all daughters, at least so far (they are just turning 12), they think the world of their father (when they ask ‘how are you so intelligent’, I sigh and remember my colleagues’ advice: daughters are little princess, all delicate, loving and bubbly… but wait till they become teenagers!).

Diza is a budding artist. She is caring, loving, very thoughtful and absolutely stunning with sketches. She sings like a nightingale, in her soft melodious voice. And is already preparing breakfast for the whole family!

Saania is growing to be a philosopher! She reads more than I ever read at her age, is very logical and intelligent (all A1s in Maths and Science) and asks some basic questions (“how did we come on this Planet!).

Saba, my wife, my friend, my partner, my lover… We fell madly for each other when we were barely 16! Have been together for 22 years, and married for 16. And even today we laugh and play like kids (she says age is just a number!).
She loves photography and cooking (all my friends say they have never come across a tastier cuisine). So, she created a Facebook page on these twin passions.
